Bulgaria’s potential for solar is undeniable – the country benefits from high irradiation rates, notably in the South, but the solar “boom” has not happened yet. However, the country has set a target of close to 2.2GW of new capacity over ten years, from its current 1GW of capacity currently installed. When considering it’s potential and targets, what can we expect to happen in the coming years?

  • What are the government’s energy strategies?
  • What are the current challenges and opportunities to scaling-up Solar PV?
  • Is distributed solar the only way forward?
